NuriTap pilot study
Who runs the study

Purpose
The main study will look at how daily wellness checks on a phone change over time for older adults and whether that helps connect them to care sooner. Before it starts, this pilot tests the method end to end: the consent screen, how data is sent under a random code, how withdrawal and deletion work, and data quality.
Who can take part
Adults 18 and older who were invited to the NuriTap closed test in the United States or Korea. Participation is voluntary. You can use every NuriTap feature without joining.
What is collected for research
- For each wellness check: the check type (reaction, balance, touch, color, tongue self-report), the score, how it compares with your own recent results, the time, and the app version.
- These are stored under a random research code, not your name or account ID.
Not collected for research: your name, email, phone, location, symptoms you report, video or audio, photos (the tongue check never takes a photo), or anything you type.
How your identity is protected
The link between your account and your research code is kept separately so that we can honor your withdrawal. It is removed if you delete your account. Data is encrypted in transit and access is limited to the research team.
Where data is stored and for how long
During the pilot, data is stored on servers in Korea used for testing. Pilot data is deleted when the pilot ends, before the main study begins; we will post the deletion date on this page. The main study will run on US hosting with HIPAA safeguards.
Risks and benefits
The risk is minimal and mainly concerns privacy, which the measures above address. There is no direct benefit to you and no payment for taking part.
How to stop
- In the app: My → Consents & signature → turn off Research participation.
- Choose Just stop (no new data) or Stop and delete (data collected so far is deleted too).

Ethics review
The pilot validates methods only and produces no research results. Before the main study begins, we will obtain review from an institutional review board (IRB), post the board and approval number here, and ask for new consent. We will not use pilot data in the main study.
